I appreciated the opportunity to talk with you briefly about the public housing community services manager position. As requested, I am enclosing an updated resume as part of the formal application process.

I know that you are somewhat familiar with the quality of my work since we served together on the long-range planning committee two years ago. Nonetheless, let me highlight a few of my qualifications for this promotion:

• I speak Spanish fluently. This ability has helped me convince tenants in our predominantly Spanish-speaking developments to participate much more actively in decision-making about programs that affect them.
• I have increased coordination among local agencies also working with low-income families.
• Going back to my 4 years as a teacher’s aide while earning my B.A., I learned a great deal about how cultural differences affect use of public services. This has allowed me to help some of our constituents overcome cultural obstacles to making full use of available services.

With these qualifications, I believe that I am ready to move into the position of manager. I hope that we will have the opportunity to talk in again in the near future.
