I read the recent article in Business Week indicating that Harry Marks would be retiring as President of American Financial, Inc. and that you were beginning your search for a replacement. I am enclosing my resume to let you know of my sincere interest in this position.

Although I have not yet had an opportunity to see a job description, I am certainly familiar with the overall requirements from having served as President of Hodges Financial, Inc. for over a decade. During my years as president, we have experienced an 18% growth in profit margin. I believe that this growth was at least partly due to the implementation at my request of a more comprehensive strategic and operational planning process. The project-team approach to addressing concerns raised by employees has also contributed to our company health.
