Dear Ms. Cook,

We haven’t spoken in a few months so I wanted to let you know that I am hoping to make a career change of sorts. Specifically, I am looking for a potential partnership, a joining of businesses.

My business has doubled in the last two years, and I have not been satisfied with the barbers I have hired. Also, I miss the rapport that you and I had when we were both apprentices at Bernie’s. It seems to me that it could be advantageous for both of us to jointly build a larger business and at the same time be able to share administrative responsibilities. That could allow us both to get more time off while feeling confident that the business was running smoothly. Also, I have a very loyal clientele that would come with me if I were to move to a location not too distant from this one.

Doug, I know this idea comes out of “left field,” but I’d love to explore it with you in the near future. I have no pressing needs driving me to actually make the change soon, so we could have plenty of planning time.
